‘Your eyes are bigger than your belly’ is a well-known saying in North East England.

It might sound a bit daft. But ‘neurogastronomy’ (please bear with) proves that we eat with our eyes first.

When a waiter presents us with a gorgeous-looking plate of food, we assume a lot of care also went into preparing that food.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that influencers – actually, all kinds of customers – are more likely to whip their camera-phones out whenever they’re about to tuck into something that looks inviting.

In other words, good presentation means you’re more likely to be seen by people not actually in your eatery.

This is why your own socials and website need to look inviting: because great images help entice more customers.
