The sun is shining in the sky
There ain’t a cloud in sight
It’s stopped raining
Everybody’s in the play
And don’t you know, it’s a beautiful new day
Hey, hey, hey!
Yes, yes. ELO’s hit tune from yesteryear is neither Christmassy nor current. But please keep reading to discover why Mr Blue Sky actually makes a lot of sense at this time of year.
Brits love blue skies. That’s partly because we just don’t see enough of them. Especially during winter. Blue skies transport our thinking from dull, dreary days across to Mediterranean holidays, sandy beaches and loafing by a pool.
Early Christmas gift
With this in mind, we have an early Christmas present for you.
We’ll add blue skies to any two external images we do during a photoshoot you book with us between now and the end of January 2025.*
Of course, this bodes well for sales, even during winter. Because, as we all know, an external shot – the front of a house or other building – is usually the first impression potential buyers get when they look at properties.
Our limited-time offer means you can book a winter shoot with us with confidence. You can be sure that, even if the sky looks like the colour of an elephant’s rump when we shoot, we’ll brighten up two of your edited images with a sky that Jeff Lynne would love to receive for Christmas.

Shot above before a blue sky was aded (compare with image at top of the screen).
Does a blue sky make a difference?
In short, yes.
You only have to look at the before and after shots in this message to see which would appeal to more people.
Blue skies can help your property stand out from a dull grey crowd.
For example, if two or more agents are selling a particular property, it’s the agent with the sunniest shots who’s most likely to get calls from would-be buyers.
Nor will blue-sky images do your own image any harm. Your brand could literally bask in the glow of optimism people associate with sunshine.
As the ELO song puts it, ‘Hey there, Mr Blue/ we’re so pleased to be with you/ look around see what you do/ everybody smiles at you.’
And they do smile.
That’s even easier to understand if you look at sunnier skies in context.
According to the NHS, seasonal affective disorder – commonly known by the apt acronym SAD – ‘is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is sometimes known as “winter depression”.’
While blue-sky images may not be a panacea for SAD symptoms, they could make you look like a sun god in the eyes of would-be buyers.
Please drop me a line if you have any questions. I’d be happy to chat to you about photographs that help sell properties in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Until 2025, have a great Christmas and New Year.
Let’s create content with even more kerb appeal.
