YOU DON’T NEED TO BE AN ESTATE AGENT to know that the kitchen is the heart of any home. Gone are the days when it was just a place to eat meals and chuck suds on dirty dishes. These days, everything happens in the kitchen. Coffee mornings. Late-night snacks. Homework. Dinner parties. Really bad dance sessions… Whatever you fancy, the kitchen is now the go-to room.
It’s obvious when you think about it. When visitors arrive, the first thing you do is offer them a drink. Even non-thirsty visitors are still drawn towards the kitchen if there’s lovely warm cooking smells emanating from that direction. No wonder the kitchen is every home’s natural gathering space.

Swish kitch anyone?
Because more of us are spending more and more of our time in the kitchen, it makes sense to invest in this room.
On that front, those who can afford tailor-made cabinetry could do a hell of a lot worse than getting in touch with Newcastle-based Simply Bespoke, the company that fitted out the kitchen in Gosforth photographed here.

There’s plenty of options for those who can’t afford or don’t want to fork out for a bespoke kitchen. Anyone with a ton of time on their hands can scroll through Instagram for hours looking for inspiration. Alternatively, this Which? article lists five top trends for contemporary kitchens, including clues on colours to use, sustainable materials and lighting that will give your cookery room a 2025 vibe.
Adore a new door or two
Estate agents could also remind homeowners that they can have a new kitchen without having a new kitchen. Don’t say that though because it sounds really confusing. Instead, tell homeowners they can keep kitchen carcasses and replace doors to give cabinets a completely different look. Sussex-based Kitchen Door Workshop has plenty of options available. They also do handles, storage and bins and their site is awash with inspirational ideas. In fact, Kitchen Door Workshop appear to have everything except the kitchen sink!

In short, it’s worth letting homeowners know that a cool kitchen is a win-win because of the joy it brings for the owner and the added appeal it gives to properties being put up for sale.
And when it comes to selling, it’s always a good idea to show every room off in its best light with professional photography. It may seem excessive to have four shots of the same room, as here. But when it’s as well-presented as this kitchen, it’s worth letting potential buyers see it from different angles to fully appreciate what they’re investing in.
